I am sure you and I have a common ancestor somewhere in Spencer County, IN. My gg grandfather was William Garrett Abshier, born in 1865. He was listed in the 1870 census for Luce Twp., Spencer County, IN along with his siblings Lucy A., James T., Rosie E., George B., and John R. There is an Ann R. and Nicolas T. Abshier (ages 28 and 20) also listed along with this family, with Mary Abshier (age 39) listed as head of household. I wonder if your gg grandfather Alfred was a brother to Mary's husband (I still don't know Mary's husband's first name).
