Looking for our Brown family from either VA/W.VA and Kentucky area. John Brown married Matilda Brown approximately 1840...their children were Andrew, Lorinda, Thomas, Frances Columbia, and Joseph. I did locate them on the 1850 and 1860 census in Greenup and Boyd County Kentucky which states they are from the VA area. However, when they migrated to MO, the census states they were from W. VA. The reason for this might have been that the lands in VA became W.VA at a particular time. Any help would be appreciated.
