I would like to make contact with anyone with family roots from Crawford County, Georgia. My grandfather, his brothers and sisters (Napoleon, Birt, Garfield, Maude, Ora, Ethia, CHILDERS, were all born in Roberta, Georgia.
Epsy Hancock is listed on the 1900 Crawford County Census as Epsie Hancock, head of household, W/F b. Sept. 1830, 69 years of age, born in Georgia. Listed in the household is my grandfathers eldest sister Maude Childers as a 17 year-old, black "servant" as the only person in her household in 1900.
Epsy A. Hancock's will from CRAWFORD COUNTY WILL BOOK C - 1894 -1948, pp 82-83, on Filmstrip #3725 at Washington Library, Macon. Georgia.
In the last Will and testament is the following. "I give and bequith to Maude (Childers) Warren, the home place, I now reside on, containing 25 acres more or less".
Does anyone have knowledge of the early white Childers of Crawford County, Georgia, if so, did the own any slaves? I have not been able to make link past my great-grandfather, Louis Childers B/M b. 1848.
I would like to attend the Childers/Childress event in Knoxville in October, maybe I will be able to expand my research including DNA on my Childers line. If anyone can help, please contact me with the contact information I have provided below.
