Scanlon Family

Hi, I am trying to trace back my Scanlon family. All I know is that they originate from Cork in Ireland and am almost certain they went to the States during the potato famine. the only relative I have is Thomas Scanlon born 29th nov 1890 but I don't know where and died in Cohoes, Albany, New York I can't find his wife, whose name was Gertrude Shine. Any ideas anyone please
